At Bapco, we are currently in the process of undertaking one of the largest refinery upgrade programs in our history the BMP (Bapco Modernization Program).
This US$ 5 billion project is of strategic importance to not only Bapco but to Bahrain. This refinery expansion will boost the capacity of the Sitra oil refinery to 360,000 bpd from the current 267,000 bpd and also improve energy efficiency, with enhanced product offerings as well as meeting environmental standards.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a range of maintenance and troubleshooting activities within the refinery’s maintenance services department.
What We’re Looking For
As Instrumentation Maintenance Engineer you’ll :
Provide and manage an effective workshop maintenance and repair service to ensure continued operation to design of control valves and other equipment within the company
Plan, organize and supervise the activities to ensure effective completion of instrument work during major T&I’s on process units
Plan and organize the activities of the Alarm and Trip (A&T) testing team, including the writing and updating of A&T procedures and maintain auditable records of A&T tests
Plan and organize the activities of the Fire Alarm and Office Equipment group and ensure that the fire alarm systems are tested in accordance with the schedule
Ensure that instrument equipment / systems, manuals, documentation records are up to date and that up to date materials and spare parts are available for the equipment in his area of responsibility
Take action to ensure required competencies and motivation of responsible staff are available to achieve the required objectives, as well as developing and sustaining team spirit among the staff
Implement quality assurance calibrations on instrument test equipment and reference instrument test equipment utilized for field QA calibrations and keep auditable records
Provide meaningful and accurate input to preparation of the Instrument Maintenance Sections annual budget
Ensure that all staff are actively involved in safety to identify and eliminate safety, health and environmental standards
Qualifications And Experience
BSc. or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or similar
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in oil refining and or petrochemicals
At least 3 years in a supervisory capacity associated with instrument operations and maintenance of diverse types of instrumentation and control systems and equipment
Good English language skills spoken and in writing
Good appreciation of instrumentation engineering design and a sound theoretical and practical knowledge of engineering principles
Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop a team of competent and motivated Instrument Technicians and Technician Engineers
In depth experience of calibration, fault finding, maintenance team drawn from the mechanical, electrical and instrument and operations disciplines
Familiar with European and American standards for installation and maintenance of instrument equipment in hazardous areas
Capable of conducting failure investigation and producing reports with recommendations for corrective and preventative actions
