The Safety Officer ensures that construction and site working practices are in compliance with project procedures, codes and standards, and owner requirements.
Ensuring that the project HSE strategy has been properly disseminated and implemented onsite by Contractors.
Performing audits to ensure compliance with all company written policies and statutory requirements by Contractors.
Confirm the implementation of HSE training programs for the project.
Ensuring best industry practice in construction safety. Verification of site practices against best industry practice by Contractor.
Main Responsibilities :
Promoting safety training, offering advice and liaising with personnel at site level on a continuing basis regarding health, safety and the environment.
Carry out regular inspections of Contractor construction areas with the respective supervisors, report any findings and follow up on any corrective actions required.
Implement safety initiatives developed by the HSE Coordinator to continually improve, achieve and maintain stated safety performance and objectives.
Compile and maintain statistical data concerning all matters of health and safety, training programs which are to provide a basis for further health and safety activities, to highlight trends for future action and to monitor and prepare regular reports of the project’s HSE performance
Ensure interest and awareness of HSE are maintained at site by Contractor, regular safety talks and safety training sessions to the workforce as required by the type of existing work and working environment which exists on site.
Assist the Construction Safety Manager in accident investigation process and report accordingly.
In conjunction with the Construction Safety Manager, ensure that EPC Contractor maintains records on site of all hazardous substances via Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Ensure Contractor carries out safety induction in accordance with project requirements for all site employees.
Keep safety records / documentation of incidents / injuries on the site. Compile reports to the project manager, safety skills updates and injury data.
Minimum of 5 years experience as safety officer or equivalent in the oil and gas industry.
Industry related degree.
